The Emperor's Theories
Under Construction (!)
Theory Analysis
The object of this theory is to persuade in terms of my own opinion(s) that this game featured two Mephiles' by mistake, and that how badly the game flawed-out its intentions in scoping too low for most Sonic gamers as the game seems to be more rushed than you might realize. After playing Sonic Generations, I know for a fact that Mephiles isn't around anymore for noticing that after his death is now to be certain, after all, he is but a split-personality of the fake Solaris who was defeated by the three Super hedgehogs but also being erased from the Candle light near the end of the game; resulting in shame of this game for not taking place at all in the game. I know for a fact that Elise had blown out the candle, but I do not recall it being specified that the small flame WAS in fact Solaris. It was just a flame used to produce idealistic reasoning for the Duke to go in and make a replica of Solaris. Think about it, if the candle was blown out, and all time was erased to start-over at the beginning of the game, therefore, fire would not exist any longer in the Sonic World, instead.
Considering likely that Sonic Team was held responsible for issuing some horrific-made games which I think Sonic Adventure 2 was the start of Sonic's downfall, I think, which this game did in fact entitle to many horrible-seen expectations that led to its horrible rating to this day. I do however beg to differ only by leveling this game out as a half-rating than for giving it nothing to be deserved for. I mean, the soundtrack was decent. Can't complain on a three-disc soundtrack? The game is still playable and persuaded an evil villain that blotted the game to its stage until the end aside from using Doctor Eggman whom I think should have been realized more in this game than Mephiles, himself.

Where have I seen things like this hinted in the game around at? |
Sonic's Story Cutscenes that included

Shadow's Story Cutscenes that included Mephiles

Siver's Story Cutscenes that included Mephiles

Last Story Cutscenes that included Mephiles

Past Mephiles
Present Mephiles

Future Mephiles
'Last Story' Mephiles
|
Mephiles from the assumed past (also the present-time structure based around the game); seen confronting Shadow.
Mephiles seen in the future ruined world with a corrupted-looking Chaos Emerald in front of the computer screen.
"Corrupted" is just a given name for it since there's no other explanation if whither or not he's consuming an emerald from a stolen timeline, or not, with altered colorings. Apparently, he knows how to work computers? O.o |
Omega appears, but how so?
We all remember that Omega was found in the future left in scraps and ashes. Omega is not hinted in carrying the ability to use Chaos Control. Yes, as the cutscene shows: Rouge has a Chaos Emerald.
Shadow discovers that Omega is in standby mode. Rouge asks, "What could have possibly happened to create this future?" Apparently when Shadow and Rouge arrived, Rouge receives a communication response from G.U.N. HOW!? Apparently, their communicators can reach the other ends of each other among different timelines. How strange. And they still couldn't figure out what year it was after checking the computer for a year check. How bizarre. |
|
Rouge is shown giving Omega a Chaos Emerald. Simple cutscene.
|
|
Coincidence? The future Omega was altered to accepting the Chaos Emerald and was then reactivated as he is shown coming to the rescue, even though Shadow can take care of himself.
Let's not forget in Sonic Generations, he is shown at the end of the game shouting out to Sonic, "you've got this Sonic!" Just shows that Sega didn't really want to get Shadow involved because the game was focused more on Sonic, not him. However, there's no excuse here. If the player wants to see Shadow beg for mercy, then why put him up as a playable character in the first place instead of a side playable character!? |
|
Future Omega!?!?
Omega is seen jumping with Shadow to the present timeline after last seen going through another portal. This of course, I am presuming that Omega has not used Chaos Control to get to Shadow from into the future, guaranteeding a major plot-hole.

Prototype is a Failure
Or is more just an unexplained letdown. If Eggman is constructing a Solaris Protoype machine to carry out his plans from it, then what purpose does he have carrying dead-wight (assuming Princess Elise) with him?
I mean, sure, he got his Chaos Emerald from Sonic, but he still held her captive after this incident. Perhaps, he WAS insisting on rambling about Solaris again to her. Like he had nothing else to do. |
|
Shadow's Future Self
This scene made no sense to me when hinting how Shadow's future self got into the hands of Mephiles after it was already described that Omega had sealed him.

Mephiles escapes - but where to?
Now, let's assume all of Mephiles' escapes to where he warps away from. Yes, he does show acts of the cowardly to get away but cannot be harmed by bullets?
It is shown when Shadow had released Mephiles, he was seen without a Chaos Emerald, then disappears. At no point does the gamer find out where he gets the Chaos Emerald from. The game blankets in showing that he takes off in this story, but does not explain where he goes off to next. He just disappears. Seen in Silver's story, he has this Chaos Emerald and fed-up hatred towards Sonic. Apparently, this is proven as he is shown in the 'Last Story' blasting Sonic while his back is turned in an open-field. A. BIG. OPEN. FIELD. I would've appreciated the scene more if he blasted into the Castle doors and killed instantly, but yet, Sonic Team went dramatic with his fall to the ground. And even though the game explains what Mephiles CAN do, you'd think by now that he would've done this from the start? |
Eggman has no clue himself.
It was given already in G4's video reviewer(s) had a misfit over Eggman's continuous rambling over the fact that 'Solaris can alter time," but has not spoken the truth at all. Not to Shadow, not even to anyone. I still want to know the answer to 'how' Eggman found out about Elise con-sealing Iblis inside of her. What he do, perform an Autopsy and went, "Oh look. I. HAVE The Power!!!' (Hence the He-Man pun)
However, his character design did fit into the game quite well. It was interesting for a newer character design. Although for this game, it's the choice of dialogue that counts, it seems. However, I think this cutscene was very unnecessary. Shadow did in fact bust a hole from the ceiling from in the train which it was shown that Shadow had ripped apart the train using his motorcycle and weaponry, not Sonic, when playing as Sonic through another running marathon. For what purpose does Shadow The Hedgehog get a 'T - for Teen' rating from and still contain bullets and shooting still having been put into this game, I don't know. Is it the 'damn -speaking' or shooting of the G.U.N. Soldiers that spilled the title change from an 'E - rating?' Then without ideas put aside, Shadow winds up in saving Sonic from another Silver attack to where Silver is still wanting to kill him again after obviously not taking a hint and finding any clues at Eggman's isolated base hidden in the ice cold mountains. And let's not forget how irritating the Silver boss battles were. |

Portal Hoping Plot-Hole
Now let's dig in deeper. We all remember that cutscene that featured Sonic, Silver, and Blaze during the cutscene that features the Egg Carriers crash-landing after the Kingdom Valley Stage as they enable Chaos Control to go through time. However, the game influenced that one portal can take you to your desired time frame (and it was only one!) and warped Sonic & Silver to their own time frames just in time to set things right, but if both ended-up elsewhere, then how many portals did Shadow & Silver really take to get to the Aquatic Base ten years ago in the games time-frame? Another coincidence that the story wasn't explained well.
There is not enough evidence shown that things have already taken place, although Shadow still hasn't the slightest clue who Mephiles was when they had first met after playing through Kingdom Valley as Shadow, but it still doesn't explain how a time paradox exists between a Mephiles seeking advice from Silver then. |
|
Shadow knows. Now, what about Mephiles?
You'd think after watching this cutscene to where the player is forced into re-creating the Sceptor of Darkness, would it then be known to the player that Mephiles would then be on the watch, assuming that he knows at all what Shadow is doing as so he somehow did after Iblis: Phase 2? I don't think he did.
He was just there. |

Last Story Analysis
Now here comes the biggest 'OMG I didn't even realize that,' response to the last story, of course.' As I am reviewing bits by bits of this game that exceeded in using Mephiles from different parts into this game as well as I'm continuing to give feedback about it, this what I believe (as a gamer on how the result has ended with on terms of Mephiels fusing with Iblis to form Solaris in the 'last story mode' for I have yet to find a better explanation to this after figuring things out to this point. If Mephiles fused with Solaris, forcing all timelines to co-exist, leaving the world Solaris has made to be what it is to become of it, and what it is, Mephiles from a different time-frame would have been assumed to have still been alive and could have immediately warped to a much further past time to safe his hide. The story will not tell you, but doesn't mean that it couldn't happen. If you had the power to time jump before you had the chance, then surely you can just to save your hide.
What is the coincidence
What is the coincidence
Coincidence?
"Mephiles The Dark," is a manipulator of time, whom is also a time traveler and can exist in many locations throughout time and space. It may have been possible that Sonic Team has theorized in making Mephiles unaffected by his ownself being altering among different time frames to ensure his role in the game to being a god which kills the intent of "Past effecting the future" although it was described in the game by Sonic, Silver, and Blaze during the cutscene that features the Egg Carriers crash-landing after the Kingdom Valley Stage as they enable Chaos Control to go through time.
Anaylis behind: 'Elise - blowing out the candle.'
Video Review(s) - By G4
I can recall there was another review similar to this video seen on G4 (Television) while being spoken about by Morgan Webb, but it in fact still lists the same clauses that support indefinite reasons to why the game is flawed.
There is however more to this than the reviewers let on. Tons of glitches can be discovered as you obtain the Purple Gem (while playing as Sonic) and can |

Conclusion
This game contains of a horrific timeline that even I can't explain well enough if assuming that facts are still missing from this review to whiter or not after comparing and contrasting that two Mephiles' may have inadvertently have been transpired to carry out their equal goals to bring about the tides of Solaris, although Sonic Team has failed to connect the two deities as well than you can imagine. The past (or present) Mephiles seen in Shadow's story was however altered.
But yes, in conclusion to this theory, I believe Sega should remake this game to make it better. The gameplay is in fact awful. Plenty of glitches, plenty of loading screen-time is consumed upon wait to start playing this game on many spots while playing. If a game designer wishes to build an "end of the world," or "hazardous-themed world" to base the game around like the Crisis City stage for instance, at least common sense should have been used upon the making of this game. The game served little as is for protection among these influenced stages that support a well-bringing concept that features an end to the world around you. There should've been more bubble shields to grab (heck, I don't even remember seeing any that worked for Sonic, even the Yellow Gem didn't help). Rings and Invincibility Power-ups weren't really consulted properly throughout the game.
I even believe that if to make a remake, should the player be allowed to venture into the castle where Princess Elise awaits before the kidnapping of Dr. Eggman. The city should be modified more. Maybe possess better landscaping locations to place stages around (Underground, not advanced underwater laboratories), maybe allowing the player to play as the villain, "Mephiles The Dark," himself, or have him promote hostile takeovers among the kingdom at any given time.
If you do not understand much has been listed, perhaps the discussion on time may not be an absolute topic for you to carry-on with if it gives too many headaches to think about. You're welcome to leave notice in supporting your own claims, but remember, you do not have to agree with the information as presented. You can assume your own. Nobody is forcing you to agree or disagree with this.
